Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) was built through Harambee effort by the local people and some generous donations from two Protestant church organizations; I.C.C.O. of Netherlands and E.Z.E. of Germany.
Our fore-fathers, the KIST founders had a vision; to build an institution, which would be a centre of excel-lence in Technical, and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), an institution of excellence that would provide the best training for secondary school graduates whose passion was to enrich this country with competent skills for national growth.
KIST has done this for the last 40 years (since 1973) and we have proof of this from the many successful graduates of KIST. Among them is the current Principal KIST, cur-rent Principal Thika TTI, Business Men and Women, Con-tractors in Building and Civil, Electrical and Electronics experts, Bakers in the bread industry among others.
As the BOT, Kiambu County stakeholders, our well wishers and collaborating partners will continue to do our best in ensuring that the original vision of KIST founders is sustained and enhanced in ensuring that KIST fulfils its mandate now and in the future.
We aim at establishing a modern Technology and Innova¬tion University while retaining and improving the current KIST into a National Polytechnic to continue providing professional practical skills based courses at Certificate and Diploma TVET levels.
We foresee KIST growing into a globally competitive Polytechnic offering unique practical oriented courses that meet the demand of the industry, producing graduates of value, who are knowledgeable, competent with required skills and socially responsible citizens, graduates who know that Kenya as a nation will grow and compete inter-nationally only if each of us play our roles effectively.
